February 7th

This class has come to an end so fast. While I'm glad that the class is ending, I'll hopefully have another 3 credits under my belt as long as I don't fail any of the work, and we'll have a week off before the next one starts, I really quite remiss that Wednesday is the end. I have mentioned several times that this is one of the most useful courses that I have ever taken. I feel like I have learned so much about all of these fun new programs both for personal and school use. I have created some really great things that I can use with my students and I'm really looking forward to using them. A lot of the work for this class was a lot of fun and educational at the same time. I wish we could go on for another couple weeks (without having to pay more, of course).

As far as this week's work goes, I basically made a whole project along with the rubric for a Pecha Kucha that I would like my students to do once I can get them into the computer lab. This is fantastic! It will force students to speak to the class while giving a presentation without just reading off of the slides in the presentation. I don't really know what else to write about this week, I guess I'm just ready to finish up all the work. Sorry to those of you who have to reply to this, there's not much to reply to!

  1. Interestingly, Jenny also posted that she wants the class to continue. As I told her, we still have several more classes to take before we obtain certification. Hopefully the ones in the future will be as useful.

What is your project topic going to be? How are your students liking your new presentational style? Are they taking more in or are they lost without seeing what to write down for notes?

  2. I agree this class has really gone by fast, I started my blog by saying I'm amazed Wednesday is our last session. I'm assuming we're going to have a "Pecha Kucha" event to share--it will be really interesting to see and learn from what others have done.
I like that we have been exposed to numerous different types of presentations--depending on the group of students or the curriculum one format might be better than the other, it's nice to have choices. And, like you said, what we've learned will be fun for work or home. I sent my college daughters an Animoto filled with pictures of their cat, they got a kick out of it.

  3. That is really exciting about putting the project together for your students perhaps you can show or tell me more about it during the next class.

Also, if you do anything with the Prezi with your students, I'd be interesting in hear how that goes, especially since you are a social studies teacher.

I also think you had some great photos for the photo of the day.
